The Power of Choices

So, today I was checking my email, and I came across my email newsletter from Michael Josephson the Founder of Josephson Institute, which is the group that created Character Counts. You know that little program that we use here in the school district to promote the development and growth og good character. Which we use to hopefully not just develop good students but good people and citizens of this great country.
Anyway, I was reading the newsletter that I get, and I read this statement from Mr. Josephson about the power of choices. He stated,

"It's often said that our choices reveal our character, but it's also true that our choices shape our character. Thus, the more aware we become of the choices we make every day - about our attitudes, words, actions, and reactions - the more power we have over our destiny."

I am wondering how this statement is true in your life.? Please provide specific examples in you life how the power of choices can effecgt not just our daily activities but also our future plans and outcomes. Think, type and respond.

Thanks, Mr. C!

Yes, it is true in my life. I came across a situation where a friend of mine was being very negative at everything that was happening during a specific day. She seemed so angry at everything. I talked to her and explained that if she took a look at the situations in a different light that it might change the outcome. She did not believe what I said and continued to have a bad day. I had a bad day a couple of days later, I showed her threw my actions, thoughts, and behavior that even though I was having a bad day that it was not going to stop me from getting where I wanted to in life. She said she was sorry that she didn't believe me after she saw that I had changed the outcome by how I reacted. We laughed and went on with our day.

Well a choice that comes to mind is the one i made on whether i was going to play football or not. I decided not to and it is a choice i will regret for the rest of my life. The choice nagged at me everyday since i made it but it really didn't hit me until i listened to the cheyenne east game. I have to live with the thought that i could have made a difference but i didn't. From the anguish that this choice has and will cause i've put a lot of thought into the rest of my choices both great and simple. I don't want to life with another choice that i will hate myself for until my time is done.

This is absolutely true. The choices you make shape who you are. Whether it be regarding beliefs, ethics, sociality and other topics. We all have choice and it's something that many people forget.

Wow, i feel the same way when he said that. my life hasn't always been great, but who's has? anyway i didn't make very many good choices in school, at home, or at work but then when i started to realize how bad i was acting. i changed it and now my life is so much better people like me more. i have good grades and me and my mom get along again. that statement means a lot to me. thank you.

This comment that would make me understand the choices we would do. This comment would help in the future by makeing good choice. drugs and alcohole can destroy your life and your furture. but other choice can make you pass in life, what i mean about that is have a family , have a house, and have money.

this is true in my lfe because i am athlete if i chosse to do dumb things then it would effect my athletics. Plus it could also label me as a bad kid like a drinker for instance if i was a drinker it would not be good for my rep with teachers and other kids and the community thats how actions and words and what not can make your character

Attitude is everything, and your attitude effects your choices, which effect your life. like he said in the artical, good choices do reveal good charactor. I think of a coach who shall remain unamed, and how her choices and charactor effected her life. She was one of the best of the best, but because of her stupid choice to do drugs, she lost just about everything. she could've gone to the olympics even. Choices will effect more than you see at the one moment, so think before you act

Hey i am repling to Bon Bon u can relate your friends to this topic but u are suppost to relate this to yourself and how it affects yourself so i think u should think about that instead of using your friend as an example

i believe that this is true in every ones life because espically mine because i have made some stupid choices in my life such as following trends it has taken me a while to get out of those trends but when i was doing them i wasn't the nicest guy and i always tried to push the envelope of what i could do before i got in trouble with my parents and the law

What I got out of power to choices is that I can choose what to do but, not the consequences good or bad.

yes it really true in my life.cause some time i dont make really good choice in my life and then i dont even making right. Choices are easier than you think. All you have to do is to set and keep them. Make decisions based on what is best for you, not what others think is best for you. You know yourself better than anybody else. When you know your strengths and weaknesses, you can use them to get out of a lot of problems.

You know, everybody always has choice in life. Just a year ago I made a big choice in my life and that was to leave the church my parents wanted me to go to for Agnosticism. It has changed some people's view of my character although it really hasn't changed. It's less about your character than it is how people see it.

As I grew up, i usually was the outcast, I always had friends, but very little, so it gave me a chance to see the world around me. Observing how people react to certain obstacles, and how they deal with it became an unknowing habit of mine. It made me realize that I must think before I act, as a result, I was able to justify my choices before I made them. Thus creating a better person.
I would like to hope that others out there can think about their choices in life, before it's too late... Unfortunately, there is no person, program, or anything in that matter, that can change the way people think. They could be persuasive, and i know it is difficult, being altered by reality, and forgetting who really is in control, but ultimately, you would be making the final decision.
"Only you can change the way you think."

The choices I make do effect the way people see my charactor. people can tell if your a good kid or not by even simple choices such as doing your homework. Whether you do it or not can tell someone if your lazy, or if you actually care about your future.

our choices always say who you are and how you act. choices also always come with a consicuence. if you do something negative it will reflect negatively on you.
